Mental Health Treatment

Growing up, I never met or heard of psychiatrist or mental health.  It was until after I completed high school, started working that a friend mentioned one psychiatrist in our church.  Kenya has a population of 20 million people. I look back now and wonder how the whole community coped with calamities or adversities.  A number of years ago, there was massive rape in a girls boarding school. This was nauseating.  There were no crisis management groups to help these girls and their parents cope with the trauma. Instead, the government closed that school and sent all the girls home to their parents.  http://weightlossandculture.com/?p=1249

  1. Most people seek treament for other diseases. Mental health treatment has been ignored for many years. Looking around us, and what has been happening, no one is safe, and the need for mental health treatment is even greater.
